Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Wasian Ventures LLC (“we,” “us”), the publisher of Lagu. By installing or using a Lagu application, or using the Lagu website or forum, you accept them. If you obtained Lagu through the Apple App Store, TestFlight, or Google Play, the terms of those marketplaces apply in addition to these; where a marketplace’s required terms conflict with ours, the marketplace’s control for distribution matters only.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Lagu.
What Lagu is — and is not
Lagu is client software: a music player that connects to Plex and to a Plex Media Server that you (or someone who has granted you access) operate. Lagu ships with no music, streams nothing from our servers, hosts no user accounts, and maintains no copy of your library. Everything you see and hear in Lagu comes from your own server or from services you explicitly connect. Using Lagu requires a Plex account and access to a Plex Media Server, both of which are governed by Plex’s own terms — not ours.
Your library, your responsibility
The media in your library belongs to you or to whoever operates the server you connect to; it never passes through us, and we take no license to it and no responsibility for it. You are responsible for ensuring that the content on your server, and your use of it through Lagu, complies with the laws that apply to you — including copyright. Lagu is built for playing lawfully obtained personal media, and we don’t supervise, moderate, or have any visibility into what any library contains.
Third-party services
Lagu interoperates with services that have their own terms and policies, which govern your relationship with them: Plex (accounts, servers, and the “Works with Plex” integration), Last.fm and ListenBrainz (if you connect scrobbling), and Apple’s system services such as Siri and CarPlay. Lagu is an independent project: we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Plex, Inc., Last.fm, the MetaBrainz Foundation, Apple, or Google. Plex is a trademark of Plex, Inc.; all other marks belong to their respective owners. If a third-party service changes or discontinues an interface Lagu depends on, the corresponding Lagu feature may stop working, and that is not a defect in Lagu we can always fix.
Beta software
Lagu is in active development and distributed as a beta. It may contain bugs, may change or remove features between releases, and may occasionally misbehave in ways that affect playback, downloads, or settings. Keep your server backed up and don’t make Lagu the only copy of anything you care about. (Lagu never modifies your server’s media files.) We may update, suspend, or discontinue the beta — or any feature of it — at any time.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Lagu to violate the law or the rights of others; don’t use it to access servers or accounts you aren’t authorized to access; don’t abuse the connected services (Plex, Last.fm, ListenBrainz) in ways their terms forbid; and don’t misrepresent Lagu as your own work or distribute modified builds under the Lagu name. Lagu’s own licenses and attributions for open-source components ship with the app in its notices file.
The community forum
The forum at forum.lagu.fm is part of the Lagu website, and these terms cover it. What you post remains yours; by posting, you grant us the non-exclusive right to host, display, and keep your posts on the forum, which is what makes a forum work. Post only what you have the right to share, and keep it lawful and respectful of the people reading it. We may move, edit, or remove content, and may suspend accounts that break these rules.
Answers are kept so the next person searching can find them, so closing your account does not automatically remove your posts. You can ask us to close your account at any time, and we will consider deletion requests for anything personal, as the privacy policy describes.
No warranty
Lagu is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Lagu will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every server configuration, device, or network. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wasian Ventures LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including lost data, lost profits, or the cost of substitute services — arising from your use of (or inability to use) Lagu. Our total liability for any claim relating to Lagu is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which for the beta is nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they apply to you only as far as the law permits.
Termination
You can stop using Lagu at any time — sign out, delete the app, and revoke its access from your Plex account settings. We may suspend or end the beta program or these terms if you materially breach them, or when the beta concludes. Sections that by their nature should survive (your responsibility for your library, no warranty, limitation of liability, governing law) survive termination.
Changes
We may revise these terms as Lagu evolves; material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use Lagu after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. If you don’t, stop using Lagu — nothing in your library is affected by that choice, because we never had it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
