Next, and further out.

Fire OS is next: the Android tablet and TV apps, through the Amazon Appstore. The next release, 0.14.2, is planned to bring volume and seeking while casting to a network speaker, and the Android volume keys changing the computer’s volume over Lagu Remote. A reworked Apple Watch app follows. Lagu can already switch between your Plex servers; browsing all of them as one merged list is the step after that.

The three known limits 0.14.0 shipped with are closed, and Android got a long round of fixes. This is the short version; the full notes, platform by platform, are on the forum.

• Network speakers work with a Plex server that is not at home, on desktop and Android phone. Your Plex token never leaves the device.
• Fullscreen visualizers on Apple TV and Android TV, edge to edge and driven from the remote: mode, lyrics, and seeking.
• Radial, a new visualizer: one smooth circle in the record’s colors, deforming with the music. On phones, desktop, and both TVs.
• Visualizers in Now Playing take their colors from the album art, and a one-color cover still gets a second color.
• Lagu Remote asks before it replaces the computer’s queue: use the computer’s, or keep yours. Move playback here brings the music to the phone.
• Search in Settings on iPhone, Android phone, and desktop. “lastfm” finds Last.fm.
• Desktop can seek anywhere in a transcoded track without restarting the song.
• Android Auto gains playlists with Play All and Shuffle, a Queue that shows Up Next, and follows the libraries you have switched on.
• Android phone has one Play on sheet for Lagu devices, this phone, and network speakers.
• Fixed on Android phone: tracks pausing themselves half a second after a tap, a stale notification and lock screen, and Next doing nothing on an album’s last track.
• Fixed on Android Auto: a very large playlist freezing the phone, the head unit showing the wrong track, and the car coming up empty after a server switch.
• Fixed elsewhere: Autoplay going silent after a full album, the Apple Watch spinning for ever on a remote server, Apple TV play and pause not resuming in fullscreen, and Spectrum jitter on 120 Hz displays.
• Still to come, in 0.14.2: volume and seeking while casting to a network speaker. For now, volume is set on the speaker.

Android TV and Android Auto, Autoplay, Smart Fades, and a long fix list.

Two new platforms, music that keeps going when a queue ends, and fixes across every app. This is the short version; the full notes, platform by platform, are on the forum.

• Android TV: the living-room player for Android TV and Google TV, with lyrics, visualizers, an editable Up Next, Radio, scrobbling, and Lagu Remote hosting. Same Google Play listing as the phone.
• Android Auto: Home, Library, Search, and Downloads on the car screen, matching CarPlay, with voice search.
• Autoplay, on every platform. When a queue ends, Lagu keeps playing music that sounds like what you queued. Off by default; anything you queue yourself outranks it.
• Smart Fades start a crossfade where the song fades, or hand over gaplessly on an abrupt ending. Loudness leveling now lands on the first note.
• iPhone widgets: Now Playing with play, pause, and skip, Quick Play, This Week, and lock screen accessories.
• The queue survives a restart on iPhone and Android, back paused where you left it. Nothing streams until you press Play.
• Siri knows your playlists by name, smart playlists included.
• Discord Rich Presence on desktop, off by default, with the album cover on the card.
• Network speakers on Android phone as well as desktop, off by default. The server has to be on the same network as the speaker; 0.14.1 lifted that.
• Downloads opens as a hub with a Recently Downloaded shelf and an Artists section, on desktop, iPhone, and Android.
• A System theme that follows the phone’s light and dark setting, on iPhone and Android.
• Apple TV gains a Settings rail, streaming quality, Switch Server, and Made For You. Desktop gains a Genres row, Styles as a list, and the sleep timer in fullscreen. Albums and Songs filter by year on desktop, iPhone, and Android.
• Fixed: transcodes that cut off early, streams left running on the server after a skip, Autoplay going quiet after one dead end, desktop seek bars stuck to the mouse, and very large Android libraries never landing on Home.

A bundle of fixes and improvements across every platform, much of it shaped by feedback from testers on the forum.

• A Newly Released shelf on Home, on every platform: albums ordered by their actual release date, separate from Recently Added, with the release month on each card.
• Random album sort, everywhere. Pick it again to re-roll.
• Seeking works on Android transcodes. Scrub anywhere in a track; the parts already fetched land instantly and the rest shows real buffering.
• Lagu resumes when your car’s Bluetooth reconnects, on iPhone. A pause you chose yourself is never overridden.
• Filter by audio format (FLAC, ALAC, MP3…) on Songs and Albums, on every platform. Needs a current Plex Media Server; on an older one the Format option simply doesn’t appear.
• Year, everywhere it was missing: on album cards under the Year sort, a Year sort for Songs, and Album Year and Album Decade rules in the smart-playlist builder.
• Playlist descriptions and custom playlist covers finally show. The uploaded poster was always losing to Plex’s auto-generated grid.
• Star ratings can be hidden three ways on desktop and iPhone: Everywhere, Not in lists, or Nowhere.
• The desktop update prompt is a quiet card that never downloads until you ask, with a progress bar and a Restart now when it’s ready.
• Fixed: lyrics missing when playing from a playlist on desktop, the album Bitrate sort hiding or misordering with multiple libraries, the iPhone “1,374 albums / no albums yet” contradiction, Android empty-list flashes while loading, Apple TV’s missing Format menu and doubled Recently Added row, and the desktop window being named lagu-desktop.

Network speakers on desktop, and the second round of feedback fixes.

This release arrives together with the Lagu forum, where bug reports, feature requests, and release news now live in the open. Nearly everything below started as a tester’s report or request — network-speaker support was the most repeated ask of the first feedback wave.

• Desktop can play to network speakers. WiiM and similar DLNA speakers appear in an output picker beside the volume control, and your streaming-quality choice carries over to them. The switch lives in Settings › Playback and stays off until verification on real hardware finishes; mobile follows after that. The desktop output button that used to ignore clicks now opens this picker.
• Android downloads can live on an SD card. If your device has one, Settings offers Internal or SD card. Downloads you already have stay where they are, and pulling the card mid-download keeps everything that finished.
• A new switch opens Now Playing when you start music, on desktop, iPhone, and Android — off by default. Only a play you started opens the full-screen player; the queue advancing on its own, autoplay, and CarPlay commands never do.
• Star ratings can be hidden. One switch removes them from every screen; your ratings are kept, ready for whenever you turn them back on.
• Liking from the lock screen and CarPlay, on iPhone. A like writes your highest rating, so smart playlists built on ratings pick it up.
• Artists, Albums, and Songs on iPhone can browse as artwork or text only, remembered per screen, next to Sort. Text only never loads artwork at all — with a couple thousand artists, the difference shows.
• Long-press works across Android: library rows, album pages, and Home shelf cards all open the same ⋯ menu.
• Home on iPhone no longer comes back empty after a force-quit, painting the greeting with no shelves until a second pull.
• Artist and album lists load all the way through when more than one library is enabled — the most-reported bug of the last wave, on iPhone, Apple TV, and Android. Choosing only your Music library no longer shows a secondary one anyway, and Apple TV’s empty grids on a full server were part of the same fix.
• Android re-finds your server when the network changes. Leaving the house used to strand playback on a stale address; Lagu now re-tests its routes, reconnects, and resumes the track where it failed. A track that failed twice also recovers instead of staying silent until a restart.
• On Android lossless transcodes, the timeline shows the track’s real length, and Previous works past the first few seconds. Seeking in these streams arrived in 0.13.3.

The first round of fixes from beta feedback.

Everything here was reported by someone running Lagu in the opening week of the beta. Lossless albums that would not start, a broken Google sign-in, and libraries that stopped short are the big three.

• ALAC albums stream in full lossless quality on desktop and Android instead of failing to start. Lagu asks your server for FLAC, which is the same audio bit for bit, and Now Playing names the format actually arriving.
• Continue with Google works again on desktop and iPhone. Sign-in opens your normal browser and hands you back to Lagu once you approve it.
• Being signed in with no server to play from is fixed. Lagu now uses only the connections it has actually tested, waits for your device’s local-network permission, and says plainly when it cannot reach your server, with a retry.
• Album, artist, and track lists load all the way through rather than stopping after a few items.
• Play Next and Add to Queue work on whole albums and playlists, from the album or playlist page, and queue the entire thing in order.
• Compilations and soundtracks credit the artist who performed each track instead of listing everything as Various Artists.
• Home shelves gained a See All, and Recently Played on desktop now matches what you see on your phone.
• Pull to refresh on iPhone no longer flashes an instant error on Albums and Artists.
• Android home shows your listening history once: Continue Listening and Recently Played are a single shelf.
• On open foldables, the Now Playing controls no longer sit off the bottom of the screen.

Every music library at once, streaming quality, scrobbling, and CarPlay.

The build the beta opened with. A server’s music libraries stop being separate places, streaming and downloads gain a quality of your choosing, and Lagu turns up on the CarPlay screen.

• Every music library on a server browses as one A–Z, with a toggle for any library you would rather leave out. Other Plex clients switch between libraries; Lagu shows them together.
• Each app can switch between the Plex servers on your account.
• Streaming quality is a choice: the original file, or a server transcode from 320 down to 128 kbps, with separate Wi-Fi and mobile settings on iPhone, iPad, and Android. A change lands on the next track.
• While the server transcodes, the Now Playing chip names the quality actually arriving — a 256 kbps stream never reads as lossless.
• Downloads take a quality setting of their own on iPhone, iPad, Android, and desktop. Captions name what is on disk, and downloads you already have keep the quality they arrived at.
• Albums and playlists you download browse as albums and playlists offline, an All Songs list collects every downloaded track, and search works with the network off.
• Ask Siri to play a song by an artist and it starts in Lagu; the same actions work in Shortcuts. iOS has no default-music-app setting, but it can learn to route a bare “play” request to Lagu over time.
• CarPlay: Home, Library, Search, and Downloads on the car screen, with downloads taking over when the signal drops.
• Optional scrobbling to Last.fm and ListenBrainz, in Settings on every app. Plays made offline queue and send when the network returns.
• Desktop gains Check for Updates: a button in Settings, plus an optional automatic check. A small notice names a new version when one appears — nothing downloads or installs until you say so.
• The Windows and macOS builds are signed — notarized on macOS — so installers open without a warning about an unknown developer.
• Android tablets get a landscape sidebar layout, and Apple TV and Apple Watch follow the library choices made on the phone.
• Features that need the server’s sonic analysis now say “Requires Plex Pass sonic analysis” instead of turning up empty.

Android catches up; the iPad gets its own layout.

Run against testers’ own libraries on every platform Lagu supports.

• Android gained the Radio tab, the Lagu Remote client, crossfade and loudness leveling, the smart-playlist builder, listening stats, waveform seek, and a proper media notification with playback that survives leaving the app.
• Offline downloads reached Android — albums, playlists, artists, and single tracks, kept-synced playlists included, Wi-Fi-only by default.
• The ten-band equalizer and all five visualizers arrived on Android too, along with Sonic Adventure, smart-playlist editing, and a persistent Up Next history.
• Hi-res playback on Android was fixed: 24-bit sources no longer truncate to 16-bit, and the quality chip reports what the output actually opened.
• The iPad has its own layout: a sidebar with pinned playlists you reorder by dragging their handles in edit mode, a docked transport bar, and support for all four orientations.
• Lagu Remote finds its host again after either end moves to a different network. Apple TV asks each phone to pair once more after this update.
• On the TV, scrubbing follows your thumb on the Siri Remote’s touch surface. On the wrist, opening Lagu no longer takes Now Playing away from the phone.
• Servers with more than one music library got a Settings picker for which one to load, on every app but the watch, and Home reloads once you switch.
• The Watch keeps playing when the Crown is pressed, gained Crown volume and a Search row, and Play on iPhone hands a track to the phone.
• Desktop sidebar rows can be hidden one by one. On Android, Up Next opens at the current track, and a half-star rating draws as half a star.

The release lines that brought Lagu to the living room, the wrist, and Android — and turned the phone into a remote for the rest of the house.

• The iPhone app was rebuilt in Swift and SwiftUI on a new audio engine: crossfade, loudness leveling, pre-caching, five visualizers, a ten-band EQ, and offline downloads with kept-synced playlists.
• Lagu Remote: browse, search, queue, seek, and set volume from the phone while the music stays on the computer. Pairing is a QR code or a six-digit PIN, and the connection never leaves your network.
• Sonic Adventure plots a listening path between two songs you pick, smart playlists build with rolling rules, and waveform seek shows the shape of a song before you jump.
• Lagu for Apple TV: sign in with a code, browse the full library, and get visualizers and synced lyrics at couch scale. The phone controls the TV the same way it controls the desktop.
• Lagu for Apple Watch signs itself in from the phone, streams over cellular on its own, and downloads playlists and albums for phone-free runs.
• The first Android build, written in Kotlin: browsing, gapless playback, Now Playing, and lock-screen and Bluetooth transport.

Where Lagu started: a desktop player for Plex libraries with discovery built in, joined by the first iPhone app.

• Sign in through Plex and direct-play FLAC, with a quality chip naming the codec, bit depth, and sample rate.
• The Bloom look: color sampled from whatever album is playing, in dark and light themes.
• Radio from any track, artist, album, genre, mood, or decade. Guest DJ personas keep a station moving; Deep Cuts resurfaces the songs you forgot.
• The queue guard, which asks before one stray click replaces a queue you built by hand.
• The first iPhone app: a tabbed library, a mini-player that expands into Now Playing, synced lyrics, and playback on the lock screen and in Control Center.
• The early crashes were run down one by one, playlists reorder by drag on both screens, and desktop playback went gapless.
