Lagu for Windows
Lagu for Windows is the full desktop app for the music library on your Plex Media Server: lossless playback, the equalizer, downloads, and network speakers. Install it, or run the portable build from a folder. Either way it is signed, and the desktop app is free for good.
01 · On the PC
Both downloads are code-signed by Wasian Ventures LLC, the company behind Lagu. Lagu signs in through Plex’s own page in your browser, so your password never passes through the app.
Close the window and the music keeps going from the notification area. The tray menu has play, pause, skip, and Game Mode, which stills the color animation and visualizers while a game needs the GPU. Clicking the icon brings Lagu back.
Keyboard and headset media keys work with Lagu in the background, and Windows’ own media controls show the title and art.
A slim bar or a square of artwork, always on top and kept off the taskbar. It remembers its shape and position.
Settings, Playback, Output lists every audio device on the PC. Lagu remembers a USB DAC or headset and goes back to it when it is plugged in again.
Choose where downloads live in Settings, Playback, Downloads & storage, and move what you already have there in one step.
Press Ctrl+K from anywhere in the app for one overlay over artists, albums, and songs.
02 · Sound and the rest
Direct-play FLAC with the format named on Now Playing, and no gap between tracks on an album.
Preamp, twelve presets, and a custom curve that stays put between launches.
Switch on Network speakers in Settings, Playback, then send playback to a WiiM or another DLNA speaker, with its own volume and seeking, even when the server is somewhere else.
Crossfade between tracks, loudness leveling on tracks your server has analyzed, synced lyrics, and radio with Sonic Adventure and a Guest DJ.
Six visualizers drawn in the album’s colors, windowed or fullscreen.
Last.fm and ListenBrainz, and Discord Rich Presence showing what is playing, with the cover when it can find one. Each is off until you connect it.
A PC wired to the speakers is a good player for the room, and Lagu turns the phone into its screen. Turn on Lagu Remote in Settings, pair an iPhone or an Android phone with a QR code, and it can browse the library, queue, seek, and set Lagu’s volume on the PC over your own network. The phone’s own volume buttons move it too, and the same sheet sends playback back to the phone.
What it doesn’t do
What the Windows build does not have yet. The platform table has every feature, cell by cell.
There is no Arm build for Windows yet. If you run Lagu on an Arm laptop, tell us on the forum.
It tells you when a new version is out, and its Download button takes you to the installer. The installed version updates from inside the app.
Desktop runs the dark Bloom theme. A light mode comes with the desktop reskin in 0.15.0.
Phones restore the queue after a restart. Desktop does not yet.
Getting it
Pick Windows on the signup form. Desktop invitations arrive by email with a download link.
Run Lagu-Setup and choose a folder, or keep the portable .exe wherever you like. Nothing else to install.
Lagu opens Plex’s sign-in page in your browser. Approve it, choose your server, and play.

No. Playback, downloads, the EQ, network speakers, and Lagu Remote work without it. Sonic radio, moods, and Plex-fetched lyrics rely on Plex Pass on the server, as they do in any Plex client.
Yes. Turn on Network speakers in Settings, Playback, and DLNA speakers such as WiiM appear in the output picker. You can seek and set the speaker’s own volume while it plays.
